This invitation set was created for Cassandra & Steven, and was based around the colors, flowers, and cake the couple was using. The bride wanted something elegant and I designed these based on the pictures I saw and the details she gave me about the ceremony and reception. I added little rhinestones to all the pieces and I really think that made the pretty flowing flower design very elegant.
Rather than doing a traditional RSVP card and envelope, the couple wanted to do RSVP postcards, which I’m finding are more and more popular today. We ended up making a little pocket to hold all the additional information inserts (hotel information, directions to the locations, and the RSVP postcard).
The couple also had a program for their ceremony that was designed to match the invitation. I decided to leave the rhinestones off of these because of the wear they would go through – if any fell off they would look sloppy. We also didn’t know how many people would actually use them and I didn’t want the bride to have to pay for rhinestones that would end up being thrown away.
After the design of the invitation were finalized, the bride approached me about doing favors. I created a mock-up of these little 3″ tall bags, filled with mints in a tulle pouch, and the couple loved them.
I was in love with these little favors, and they looked absolutely beautiful on the tables at the reception hall – we couldn’t have planned it any better.
The couple also decided to forgo traditional guest name cards for seating assignments and we put together a guest seating chart. It was the perfect addition to the reception to tie together the decorations and favors, framed in a shiny silver frame and set up on a silver tripod by the guest book. I decided to leave the glass off and get the print finished with a glossy coating, to which I applied rhinestones to match all of the other pieces. It came out absolutely beautiful!
I worked closely with Cassandra through this whole process and she was absolutely wonderful to work with. After the wedding I felt a bit off for about a week, adjusting to not talking to her daily, too funny! I wish her and Steven many, many years of happiness.
